Brigadier General Jesús Andrés Margaretto, Head of the Support Directorate at NATO Allied Air Command Headquarters

• This is the first time that a general from the Air and Space Force has taken on these responsibilities

Today, Brigadier General Jesús Andrés Margaretto takes up his post as Head of the Support Directorate at NATO Allied Air Command Headquarters (HQ AIRCOM DCOS Support). He will hold this position in Ramstein until the summer of 2028.

This appointment marks a milestone, as it is the first time a general from the Air and Space Force has taken on these responsibilities at HQ AIRCOM, reinforcing Spain’s presence and contribution within the Allied Command structure.

General Margaretto has extensive operational experience thanks to his previous postings in fighter units (Wings 12, 15 and 46), the Air Operations Centre (AOC) and the Combat Air Command (MACOM) Headquarters, and has first-hand knowledge of NATO following his time at the Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) in Uedem (Germany) between the summers of 2017 and 2020.

At AIRCOM HQ, he will be responsible for managing the personnel, logistics and CIS sections, at what is undoubtedly a demanding time, as Allied Air Command is undergoing one of its most significant periods, changing its structure to adapt to new strategic scenarios.
