The Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) was deployed in Vigo between 26 and 31 May to take part in the events organised to mark Armed Forces Day (DIFAS 26). Specifically, it was present at the static exhibition set up in the Port of Vigo, where it had an information point to explain its mission to protect the fifth domain of military operations and raise awareness of the importance of cybersecurity in national defence.

Numerous members of the public visited the stand to find out what cyberspace is and to ask questions about the work the Command carries out to defend the rights and freedoms of the whole of society in the digital environment. In this way, they learnt how the Armed Forces protect themselves and others in the digital world.

The Command’s delegation at DIFAS 26 also received an official visit from military and civilian authorities, including the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, who was presented with a commemorative coin as a token of gratitude for the city’s hospitality towards the Armed Forces.

DIFAS 26 has presented a new challenge for the MCCE. Despite this being its first participation, the support received from the city of Vigo has demonstrated that cyber security is becoming increasingly important to society.
