Through these meetings, which took place during ‘SOF Week 2026’, Major General Herrezuelo is strengthening cooperation between the special operations forces of different nations
The Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command (CMCOE), Major General Ángel R. Herrezuelo, attended the annual international special operations convention ‘SOF Week 2026’ in Tampa (United States).
SOF (Special Operations Force), organised jointly by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and the Global SOF Foundation, brings together the international special operations community — operators, government leaders and industry partners — for a conference focused on collaboration, learning and capability development.
During this annual event, the CMCOE met with the head of USSOCOM, Admiral Frank M. Bradley, with whom he had the opportunity to hold a conversation. The CMCOE also spoke with the leaders of the various US Theatre Special Operations Commands (TSOCs): Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), Central (SOCCENT), Pacific (SOCPAC) and South (SOCSOUTH), commanded respectively by Major Generals Claude K. Tudor Jr., Jasper Jeffers III and Jeffrey VanAntwerp, and Rear Admiral Mark A. Schafer.
Major General Herrezuelo held meetings with his counterparts from Colombia, Brazil, Peru and the Czech Republic, discussing matters relating to both current and future activities and collaborations.
Furthermore, during this annual event, US Special Operations Forces — in coordination with their counterparts from India, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Romania — conducted a live demonstration of the interdiction and liberation of a hostile vessel, as well as, in parallel, a hostage rescue operation, for which the Mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor, played the role of hostage.
Multinational collaboration in the field of special operations enhances the effectiveness of operations and the protection of the population. In this context, Spanish special operations units participate alongside their US counterparts in stability operations and joint exercises, ensuring both the integration and effectiveness of the various assets.
