The Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, attended a demonstration of the capabilities of the Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) which took place during a visit to the facilities by representatives of the SOL Foundation (Safe On Line), which supports children and young people in the virtual environment.

The delegation from the SOL Foundation, an organisation that brings together families, public authorities and technology experts to create a safe environment against cyberbullying and inappropriate content, included, amongst others, its director, Claudia Caso; the rector of the UNED, Ricardo Mairal; and the journalist Susanna Griso, both of whom are trustees of the organisation.

On her arrival, Robles was received by the commander of the Operations Command (MOPS) and head of the Retamares Base, Lieutenant General José Antonio Agüero, and by the commander of the Joint Cyber Command (MCCE), Vice Admiral Javier Roca. Also present were the deputy commander of the MCCE, Major General Federico Juste de Santa Ana, and the head of the Cyber Operations Force (FOCE), Major General Pablo Gómez Lera.

During her visit, the Minister attended a session of practical demonstrations on the MCCE’s critical capabilities, which included a simulation of how to compromise a mobile phone, the execution of a cyberattack using Artificial Intelligence, and a specialised session on the risks and functioning of the Dark Web.

The attendees then moved to the MCCE’s Security Operations Centre (COS), where they witnessed a detailed demonstration of how the centre operates in its tasks of surveillance and permanent cyber defence against any attack on military networks.
