Vice-Admiral Roca took part in the 2nd Industrial Cybersecurity Conference of the Valencian Community
The commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE), Vice-Admiral Javier Roca, took part in the opening session of the 2nd Industrial Cybersecurity Conference of the Valencian Community, an event organised by the Valencian Regional Government with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of the industrial sector in the face of an ever-changing landscape of digital threats.
Vice-Admiral Roca spoke at the round table entitled ‘Cybersecurity in industrial infrastructure: strategy and priorities’, which addressed the approach to industrial cybersecurity as a national security priority. During his address, he stated that ‘contingency plans combined with knowledge are the key to resilience against cyber threats’.
During this opening panel, moderated by Carmen Serrano Durbá, Deputy Director-General for Cybersecurity at the Valencian Regional Government and Director of CSIRT-CV, the Commander of the MCCE exchanged views with Javier Candau, Deputy Director-General of the National Cryptology Centre (CCN); Brigadier General Loreto Gutiérrez Hurtado, Director of the Department of National Security (DSN) of the Spanish Government; and Álvaro de Lossada Torres-Quevedo, Chief Commissioner of the Cybersecurity Coordination Office (OCC) at the Ministry of the Interior.
The meeting, conceived as a hub for institutional, academic and business synergies, addressed imminent regulatory challenges such as the transposition of the NIS2 Directive, the impact of ransomware on key sectors (such as ceramics, chemicals and logistics), and the implications of dual-use technologies for cooperation between industry, government and defence.
By attending the conference, the Joint Cyberspace Command reaffirms its strong institutional commitment to the security of the regional and national industrial fabric, recognising that a secure cyberspace forms the backbone upon which Spain’s competitiveness, business confidence and sovereignty in the 21st century rest.
