Spanish special operations units conclude their participation in the ‘Flintlock 26’ exercise, in which our Armed Forces have demonstrated their commitment to international security and regional stability, particularly in the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea.
Under the leadership and coordination of the Joint Special Operations Command, capabilities from the Special Operations Command, the Naval Special Warfare Force, and the Parachute Engineer Squadron were deployed. This contribution enabled the integration of land, sea, air, and medical capabilities in a demanding multinational environment.
‘Flintlock’ is an annual multinational exercise organized by the U.S. Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAF) aimed at improving interoperability and cooperation among special operations forces, as well as strengthening the capabilities of African partner nations. The Spanish units carried out mentoring, training, and tactical cooperation activities, with a special focus on collaboration with Mauritania, thereby consolidating a significant operational relationship. This work involved advising and supporting Mauritanian personnel during various phases of the exercise, thereby helping to strengthen their operational capabilities.
