The Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) was invited by the Soria Defence Sub-delegation and the Duques de Soria Campus of the University of Valladolid to the 1st Cyber Conference in Soria with the aim of publicising the Command’s activities and raising awareness among attendees of the importance of cybersecurity today.
Representatives of the MCCE were welcomed by military and university dignitaries. Following the opening of the conference, retired Commander CF(R) Enrique Pérez de Tena, external advisor to the Command’s Office of Institutional Relations (ORICE), gave a lecture on the MCCE’s work in protecting cyberspace and the role of the Armed Forces in tackling the increasingly sophisticated and frequent threats arising in the digital sphere.
The second presentation in which the Command participated focused on threats and prevention. It covered what the grey zone is, what persistent threats (APTs) are, what disinformation and digital influence entail, as well as the exercises in which the MCCE participates or organises on an annual basis.
Finally, addressing an audience made up primarily of university students, Sergeant Vicens, from the Office of Institutional Relations (ORICE), promoted Talent4Cyber, the MCCE’s attack & defence hackathon, which is aimed at university students and was created to attract talent. During the presentation, students were informed of the importance of training in cyber defence and of considering the MCCE as one of their career options. Established as the leading university event in cybersecurity, T4C 2025 saw the participation of almost 500 students from 42 universities across Spain. The Defence Sub-delegation in Soria organised this first Cyber Conference with the participation of the Joint Cyberspace Command, aimed at lecturers and students at the Duques de Soria University Campus.
