The Center of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED COE) has successfully passed the periodic evaluation conducted by a delegation from Allied Command Transformation ( ACT ) over three days, reinforcing its relevance and essential contribution to the Alliance’s work.
The evaluation took place at the C-IED COE facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares (Madrid) and brought together experts and leaders from both organizations to confirm that the Center’s activities are in line with NATO accreditation criteria.
Throughout the meeting, the C-IED COE demonstrated its multidisciplinary approach to countering improvised explosive devices, encompassing a wide range of activities across its three sections: Attack the Networks, Defeat the Device, and Prepare the Force.
During the presentations, the Center’s contribution to the development of doctrine, training, operational support, and innovation to address emerging and hybrid threats was highlighted.
The visit concluded with a virtual presentation to Brigadier General Soto of Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, during which the evaluation delegation presented its main findings, highlighting the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the C-IED COE.
ACT visits the Centers of Excellence every three years to confirm that they comply with established standards and to ensure their effectiveness in supporting NATO’s operational and transformation needs.
