The Spanish Verification Unit takes part in the evaluation of the 2011 Vienna Document in Austria

An inspector from the Spanish Verification Unit (UVE) was part of the multinational team that evaluated the compliance of Austrian military units with Confidence- and Security-Building Measures.

The Spanish inspector participated as a guest on the team led by France, which also included a Belgian inspector. The program took place at the Hoersching and Langenlebarn air bases.

During the visit, the team inspected the Austrian Air Force Brigade (Hoersching) and its respective aircraft maintenance centers, concluding at Figl Air Base (Langenlebarn), where they visited the Air Wing. This visit included a static display of the unit’s equipment.

Through the briefings received at the units and the tour of the facilities, the evaluation team was able to verify that the actual conditions of the evaluated unit correspond to the information reported annually.

Through this mission, the UVE ensures compliance with international obligations by the signatory countries of the 2011 Vienna Document, strengthening cooperation with allies and demonstrating the competence of UVE inspectors in monitoring arms control treaties.
