  •  The Chief of Defence (JEMAD in Spanish) accepted this award during the Law Conference held today in Madrid by this Centre for Higher Education

The Chief of Defence, Admiral Teodoro E. López Calderón, today received, on behalf of the Armed Forces, the ‘Defence of Constitutional Values’ award presented by the Cardenal Cisneros Centre for Higher Education (CES).

The award ceremony took place as part of the Law Conference held today by the Cardenal Cisneros Higher Education Centre, where various aspects relating to the Constitution and the rule of law were discussed.

The Chief of  Defence expressed his gratitude for this recognition, which “is the result of the Armed Forces’ constant readiness to defend Spain. In this vein, from the moment we join the various training centres, we are taught to view our work as a service: service to peace and to our society. Hence the responsibility to promote a military culture based on respect, solidarity, the holistic development of individuals and the defence of constitutional values – the name of the award we receive today”.

López Calderón also highlighted the work of the CES Cardenal Cisneros and congratulated the other award winners at the ceremony. Specifically, the ‘Defence of the Constitutional State’ award was presented to Miguel Herrero y Rodríguez de Miñón and Miquel Roca Junyent; the ‘Academic Career’ award to Araceli Mangas Martín; and the ‘Legal Career’ award to Javier Delgado Barrio.
