The Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) took part in the panel discussion ‘Sovereignty and Cybersecurity’ as part of ‘Beyond Cybersecurity 2026’ to analyse how threats in cyberspace are addressed, whilst protecting digital sovereignty, national security and critical infrastructure

The Command’s institutional relations adviser, retired Commander Enrique Pérez de Tena, stated during his speech: “We are at the forefront of a new era, where people remain the cornerstone, for better… and for worse”.

Pérez de Tena exchanged views with experts such as Colonel Juan Antonio Rodríguez Sotomayor, head of the Civil Guard’s Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity Directorate, and Miguel Loste, advisor to the National Cryptology Centre (CCN-CERT); it became clear that cooperation between different organisations is the only way to ‘defeat’ cyber threats.

The event, hosted at the Nebrija University Campus, brought together experts from academia, the private sector and public institutions to promote awareness and the dissemination of technological innovation.

The closing remarks were delivered by Soraya Artiles, Deputy Director-General for Information Security and Artificial Intelligence at the Centre for Information and Communication Systems and Technologies (CESTIC in Spanish), who emphasised the importance of data protection in the digital age.
