The Chief of Defence (JEMAD in Spanish), Admiral Teodoro E. López Calderón, has received the Royal Brotherhood of Veterans of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard award, which recognises his collaboration and support in furthering the aims, missions and promotion of said brotherhood.
At the award ceremony, the Chief of Defence stated that “this award is a source of great pride because I receive it on behalf of all those who work for the security and defence of Spain, both within and beyond our borders, and because it comes from colleagues who have been an example to many of us”.
In this regard, Admiral López Calderón emphasised that the Royal Brotherhood of Veterans embodies a history of service, sacrifice and loyalty to Spain, built by generations of men and women who dedicated their lives to the defence of our country, our welfare state and our rights and freedoms.
In addition to being a mark of recognition, the Chief of Defence emphasised that “this award also entails a responsibility and a commitment to continue working with dedication and humility in the service of Spain and the Spanish people, and to live up to the values of solidarity, camaraderie, loyalty and service that the Brotherhood represents”.
During the ceremony, the Tierra, Mar y Aire magazine award was also presented to Lieutenant General (retired) Juan Luis Ibarreta Manella of the Air and Space Force.
