  • Raising awareness among attendees about the importance of training in cyber defence and providing information about initiatives such as Talent4Cyber, aimed at university students, were the main messages delivered by the representatives of the Joint Cyberspace Command

The Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) took part in the 3rd edition of the Cibértica conference, organised by Cibertics Ibérica, which aims to bring together trends, solutions, tools and training initiatives while raising awareness about the development and secure application of the various disciplines that make up the world of cyberspace and new technologies.

The MCCE representatives, retired Navy Commander Enrique Pérez de Tena and Sergeant Alejandra Vicens, delivered a presentation entitled “Defenders of Cyberspace: Beyond Science Fiction”. After providing an overview of the Joint Cyberspace Command, explaining when it was created, how it is organised, the personnel that make up the command and its future growth prospects, the speakers highlighted the importance of protecting critical infrastructure and civil society.

As they explained, “what happens in cyberspace has direct consequences in the real world”. For this reason, they stressed the need to recognise that the digital space is neither a neutral nor a completely secure environment. “We try to address crises before they arise,” they recalled, referring to the preventive work carried out to anticipate cyber incidents that could affect critical infrastructure or essential services.

For this third edition of Cibértica, organisers sought to achieve both qualitative and quantitative growth, as the University of Jaén directly participated in organising the event. In this context, the representatives of the Joint Cyberspace Command tailored their message to a student audience and provided information about initiatives such as Talent4Cyber, the MCCE’s attack & defence hackathon aimed at university students and created with the goal of attracting new talent. Established as a major university event in cybersecurity, the 2025 edition of T4C brought together nearly 500 students from 42 universities across Spain. The 2026 edition aims to expand these figures and reach the vast majority of Spanish universities.

Cibértica serves as a meeting point for projects and initiatives within the broad field of information and communication technologies, addressing topics ranging from cybersecurity and the responsible use of ICT to technological innovation, digital transformation and digital health. The event brings together institutions, leading companies, universities and, above all, citizens concerned about the responsible use of technology.
