A representative of the Joint Cyberspace Command took part in two panel discussions
The Joint Cyberspace Command participated in the 2nd Cybersecurity Congress of the Province of Málaga, organised by the Provincial Council, where it took part in two panel discussions.
In the first panel, entitled “Key Findings and Significant Incidents”, the Command’s representative, retired Navy Commander Enrique Pérez de Tena, shared perspectives with Alba Arqueros, Technical Advisor at the Department of Homeland Security, and a representative of the National Cryptologic Centre.
During his talk, he emphasised the desirability of establishing a common set of criteria across the different agencies to define what constitutes an incident, as this would allow for more reliable statistics. He also stressed that, although the number of cyberattacks is growing, this is not solely due to an increase in activity by cybercriminals, but also because cybersecurity tools are today better and more effective and are better and more effective at detection than they were a few years ago.
The second panel in which the Command participated was entitled “What to Do When Your Company Suffers an Incident”. In this context, Pérez de Tena pointed out the difficulties faced by some companies when reporting cyber incidents and emphasised the importance of transparency in order to provide a coordinated response among all the stakeholders involved.
Alongside the Joint Cyberspace Command representative, the panel included Miguel Ángel Albéniz, from the Cybersecurity Coordination Office; Andrés Román, Head of the Cybercrime Section of the National Police in Málaga; and Alba Arqueros, Technical Advisor at the Department of Homeland Security.
During the 2nd Cybersecurity Congress of the Province of Málaga, discussions also addressed, among other topics, the implementation of the National Security Framework within local councils in the province of Málaga and the protection of small and medium-sized enterprises against advanced cyber fraud.
