The Joint Cyberspace Command took part in the 2nd Cybersecurity Conference: Cyber Defence and National Security, organised by the University of Almería, delivering a lecture entitled “Do We Really Know Cyberspace?”
In their speech, retired Commander Enrique Pérez de Tena and Sergeant Alejandra Vicens, representatives of the Command, placed special emphasis on the relevance of the human factor in protecting cyberspace. “We do not just need skilled professionals, but people of integrity whom we can rely on to defend the freedoms and rights of all, beyond technological progress. For the Joint Cyberspace Command, people are our most important asset,” they stated.
To attract and develop this human capital, they also encouraged the University of Almería students attending the conference to take part in the Talent 4 Cyber initiative. Organised by the Joint Cyberspace Command, this Attack & Defence hackathon has established itself as Spain’s leading university cybersecurity event. The second edition brought together almost 500 students from 42 Spanish universities, who competed to solve 20 challenges in areas such as cryptography, digital forensics, networking, and reverse engineering.
The 2nd Cybersecurity Conference at the University of Almería also featured experts from law enforcement agencies, the public prosecution service and leading technology companies, who shared their expertise and discussed the latest trends and challenges in the field.
