A ceremony to pay tribute to the Constitution on its 47th anniversary, organised by the Defence, consisted of a solemn flag-raising ceremony in the Congress of Deputies, on Carrera de San Jerónimo.
The Chief of Defence(JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, accompanied the President of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol Socias, and the President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán Ojeda, who co-presided over the raising of the flag at this solemn ceremony. Also in attendance, among other civil and military authorities, were a commission of Deputies, a commission of Senators, the Chief Commissioner of Congress, the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and the Director General of the Civil Guard.
With this flag-raising ceremony, the Armed Forces pay tribute to and express their recognition of the Constitution. On this occasion, the Air and Space Force was in charge of raising the flag. The flag-raising team was made up of personnel from the Army, Navy, Civil Guard, and National Police.

The flag-raising ceremony in Plaza de Colón is held monthly on a regular basis. Four times a year, it is held on an extraordinary basis and is called a ‘solemn raising’. The first of these four solemn raisings is on 15 May, on the feast day of Saint Isidore. The second is on 19 June, the anniversary of the proclamation of His Majesty the King, and is presided over by the President of the General Council of the Judiciary. The third, on 12 July, coincides with the anniversary of the Constitutional Court's entry into operation and is presided over by the President of that Court.
