The 7th edition of the Cyber Defense Conference of the Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) has come to an end

The event, held in coordination with the 19th STIC CCN-CERT (in Spanish) Conference, promoted by the National Cryptology Center (CCN in Spanish), part of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), was sold out and achieved record numbers: more than 9,000 attendees in person, plus another 6,700 online, to analyze the main trends, challenges, and threats related to cyberspace protection.

The Commander of the MCCE, Vice Admiral Javier Roca, highlighted at the closing ceremony that “we are in a paradigm shift,” where for the first time we are competing with artificial intelligence, “which will be our greatest friend or enemy depending on how we use it.” For this reason, he reiterated that the most important thing in the field of cyber defense “is people and their values.”

The closing ceremony also featured Vice Admiral Roca presenting the MCCE's Boinas Grises Award to the National Cryptology Center (CCN in Spanish) for its firm commitment and constant collaboration with the Command and for contributing to the protection of cyberspace.

Over the course of three days of presentations, experts from both the MCCE and technology companies addressed a wide range of topics, from military operations in cyberspace, the role of artificial intelligence applied to defense, the work of the MCCE's 5G Cyber Defense Center, and the projects of the Joint Cyberspace Command.

The conference also gave special prominence to the university event ‘Talent4Cyber’, organized by the MCCE together with the University of Granada and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, which in its 2025 edition had almost 500 registrants and 123 participants from 43 universities.

The members of the winning team, ICAI Cyber Team, from the Pontifical University of Comillas, received the award from MCCE Major General Pablo Gómez Lera and explained to attendees how they solved the challenges posed in the exercise.
