The first phase of the JFX/MDO-25 exercise finishes today, known as Command Post, which has been carried out in Madrid, Cartagena and Burgos. In this training activity, joint military forces have operated—in a simulated manner—in all areas and domains of the battlefield, under the coordination of the exercise control body.
For two weeks, a high-intensity simulated operation has been conducted, requiring the coordination of all of Spain's Armed Forces, directed from command posts deployed at the strategic level (Defence Staff and Armed Forces Intelligence Centre), operational level (Operations Command) and tactical level: the Land, Maritime, Air, Space and Cyberspace Component Commands, as well as the Joint Special Operations Command.
In this joint activity, real-time planning and conduct of operations has been trained, among others, activities such as gathering information using means such as Predator drones or special operations teams, launching an amphibious operation, and cyber attacks. In simulated actions, ground units carried out offensive, defensive, and delaying manoeuvres, demonstrating the broad spectrum of capabilities of the Land Component Command.
In this first phase of the exercise, the Command Post of the Chief of Defence has carried out strategic command and control tasks in the battle space. Overall, this demanding exercise has made it possible to practise command and control and coordination in the land, sea, air, space, cyber and cognitive domains with the highest level of rigour in the planning and execution of operations.
