In this edition, the objective is to achieve the level of training required for joint and complex operations in the multi-domain, under the operational control of the Operations Command.
operational control of the Operations Command.
From today, Monday 10th, until 28th November, the Armed Forces' operational structure carries out the training exercise in the multi-domain field (JFX/MDO-25).
This activity is carried out every three years, and its objective is to train and test the Operations Command's ability to exercise operational control of the various Component Commands: Land, Maritime and Air, Space, Cyberspace and Special Operations.
This training activity is defined as a level 3 exercise (strategic, operational, and tactical) and is divided into two phases focused on training the Armed Forces' operational structure in the planning and conduct of high-intensity, multi-domain operations—land, sea, air, cyberspace, and space.
In this scenario, our troops will have to face, autonomously, an adversary with highly demanding and advanced capabilities, paying special attention to everything that happens in the cognitive sphere.
During the first phase, the Command Post exercise will be carried out. This is the main stage, as the Headquarters of the various Component Commands, the Armed Forces Intelligence Centre (CIFAS) and the Command Post of the Chief of Defence are activated. Each of them operates from their respective bases and barracks, and their participation involves joint and multi-domain operational planning.
The second part of JFX/MDO 25 develops a real-life exercise, which will mainly take place at the Retín Training Ground in Huelva.
At this stage, multi-domain experimentation activities will be carried out with real-time video transmission, execution of a ground attack, and video and data transmission for damage assessment, while space operations forces will be trained.
This field training will enable the exchange of information for the partial application of joint combat functions —(fire, command and control, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance)— through the use of overlapping 5G bubbles that cover the entire territory. The participation of several Spanish technology companies has been key to the execution of this experiment.
All this so that, by the end of the exercise, the operational structure of the Armed Forces will have achieved the necessary level of training set out in the objectives of the exercise and joint training.
