The Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) participated in the “First Spanish Defence Industry Meeting”, organised in Madrid by the Merca2 group under the heading “What does our defence industry need to make new military spending efficient?”.
The representative of the Command, Enrique Pérez de Tena, took part in the round table discussion 'Cybersecurity, Hybrid Threats and Disinformation. The Real Weight of Rearmament in the Digital Domain versus the Physical Domain'. In this context, he highlighted the importance of protecting cyberspace. “Each of us is the first line of defence against a cyberattack, because the internet is here to stay and it is up to us to decide how we live in this digital environment,” he said.
Alongside the representative from the Command, Santiago Torres Alegre, director of the Master's Degree in ICT Security at the European University of Madrid; Carlos Hernández Méndez, head of strategic accounts for public administrations at Lenovo; and Alberto Martíón de los Santos, director of Cybersecurity at Inetum Iberia & LATAM, shared their impressions.
This meeting analysed the key factors that have to guide the development of the Spanish defence industry, following the approval of increased military spending for this year.
To this end, it has brought together representatives from the public and private sectors to address, among other issues, the digital transformation of Army logistics, special drone programmes, the need for skilled labour in the defence industry, and Spain's National Helicopter Plan.
