context”.
Brigadier General Federico Juste de Santa Ana, deputy Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE), participated in the round table discussion “The importance of cyber defence in the new geopolitical context” at CIBER.gal 2025. During his presentation, General Juste detailed the Command's work to ensure the Armed Forces' freedom of action in cyberspace, an environment that, as he pointed out, ‘knows no borders’.
In this regard, he emphasised the importance of ‘people, who are our weapons’ in this task. As proof of this, he mentioned the creation of the Military School of Cyber Operations (EMCO), where our specialists are trained with exercises that simulate real cyber attacks.
The Deputy Commander of the MCCE exchanged points of view with Ángel López, coordinator of the Cybersecurity Group of the Spanish Association of Defence, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies; Mónica Mateos, representative of the Digital Space Risk Analysis Unit of the Technical Advisory Board of the Department of National Security (DSN); and José Cepeda, member of the European Parliament's Security and Defence Committee.
Over the course of three days, CIBER.gal 2025 also addressed, among other topics, the future and key national issues of cybersecurity, and the role of cybersecurity in a digital society.
Alongside the presentations and panel discussions, the programme was rounded off with an exhibition of solutions, ideas, security projects and practical workshops, in which leading figures took part.
The 5th Galician Cybersecurity Conference CIBER.gal 2025, held in Santiago de Compostela, is Galicia's leading cybersecurity event, organised by the Galician Agency for Technological Modernisation.
