  • The challenges of protecting citizens in cyberspace, a round table discussion in which Captain Tomás Dolarea has participated

The Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) attended the ‘Ciberday’ conference on cybersecurity in Palencia. Captain Tomás Dolarea represented the MCCE and participated in a round table discussion alongside Alejandro de la Gala from the National Police and Javier Castro Sánchez from the Civil Guard.

In his speech, Captain Dolarea emphasized the importance of the Armed Forces and Security Forces in protection and cybersecurity. He also discussed how military and civilian capabilities are integrated in the protection of cyberspace.  He stressed the importance of raising awareness among companies, public institutions, and civil society in strengthening cyber defense. All of this is framed within a scenario in which cyber and hybrid operations are becoming increasingly relevant.

In an era where connectivity has become the foundation of our personal, professional, and social lives, we live in an interconnected world where information flows constantly and without borders. This interconnection, which provides us with extraordinary opportunities for progress and efficiency, also opens the door to increasingly complex and sophisticated threats.

Raising awareness, sharing experiences, and offering practical tools to deal with this scenario, as well as solutions, is one of the main objectives of this meeting.

The eighth edition of Ciberday Palencia was held under the title “Everything connected, everything at risk.” Ángeles Armisén has participated in this project, president of the Provincial Council of Palencia; Fernando González, president of APETIC (Palencia Association of Information and Communication Technology Entrepreneurs), the organizing entity; and Félix Barrio, director of Incibe, among others.
