Official visit of the NATO Defence College's “34th NATO Regional Cooperation Course”

Spain has received an official visit from students of the “34 NATO Regional Cooperation Course” (NRCC) at the NATO Defence College (NADEFCOL), led by its head, TG Max A. L.T. Nielsen

This course, in addition to personnel from NATO countries, includes students from other countries such as Algeria, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan and Tunisia. It is an initiative that seeks to strengthen relations with the members of the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, as well as with other countries in the Middle East.

The main focus of the visit was the lectures given at the Higher Centre for National Defence Studies (CESEDEN). The presentations covered various key topics in the field of defence, providing an overview of the current situation in our country in terms of strategy, defence policy and capabilities.

Ambassador José Hornero Gómez gave a talk on “foreign policy”, followed by a presentation on “defence policy” by Rear Admiral José María Fernández de la Puente, Deputy Director General of Plans and International Relations at DIGENPOL.

NADEFCOL students also attended a lecture on “the Spanish Armed Forces”, given by the head of the EMACON Planning Division, Major General Pedro Torreño Suárez, followed by a presentation on “Defence Industry” by the Deputy Director General of Defence Industrial Strategy, Brigadier General Vicente Torres Vázquez.
