The Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) participated in a cybersecurity awareness day entitled “From risk to resilience: the challenge of cybersecurity”, organised by the SEPI Foundation, which aimed to raise awareness of cybersecurity, its strategic importance and the impact it can have on businesses.
Vice Admiral Roca, commander of the MCCE, gave a presentation entitled “What you have never been told and need to know about cyberspace”, in which he emphasised that effective leadership is essential for each individual to give their best in building a secure cyberspace environment.
Moreover, other figures from the public and private sectors participated, such as Javier Candau, Deputy Director General of the CCN; Félix Barrio, Director General of INCIBE; and Julia Perea, Director of Digital Security at Telefónica Spain.
The event marks an important milestone as it is the first time that several CEOs of leading companies in the sector have come together to discuss and make decisions that will have a real impact on cybersecurity.
The second event in which the MCCE participated was “Geopolitical Risk, Economic Security, Energy Security and Defence Spending”, organised by Cecabank and the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies. This initiative addressed the importance of cyber defence in a global environment marked by growing tensions, active conflicts and hybrid threats.
On this occasion, Vice Admiral Roca participated in the round table discussion “Technology and National Security”, with a presentation entitled “Cybersecurity and Geopolitics”, in which he once again highlighted the importance of people as drivers of talent and knowledge in order to predict possible cyberattacks.
The MCCE has expressed its gratitude for the invitation to both conferences to continue raising awareness about the need to invest in cyber defence and to publicise the work carried out.
