The C-IED Centre of Excellence provides tactical and operational training in counter improvised explosive device (IED) countermeasures

• The C-IED Staff Officers Course has had 23 students from 10 nationalities.

The Centre of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED COE) has delivered the second 2025 edition of the C-IED Staff Officers Course (CSOC) at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.

The course, which was inaugurated by the Director of the C-IED COE, Colonel Javier Corbacho Margallo, brought together 23 students of 10 nationalities. Its objective is to provide personnel assigned to General Staffs, Headquarters and other operational units with the necessary training to advise the command leading the C-IED effort, at both tactical and operational levels.

The classes focused mainly on knowledge of the threat, doctrine and operational planning. The theoretical part has been taught by personnel assigned to the centre, all experts in different areas of the C-IED fight, both Spanish and from the nations belonging to the COE.

The last two days were devoted to a group exercise on a fictitious scenario. The students had the opportunity to discuss, share experiences and exchange knowledge.
