The Centre of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED COE) has delivered the first annual iteration of the DOMEX course at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid and at the Headquarters of the San Marcial Division of the Spanish Army in Burgos.
Inaugurated by the Director of the C-IED COE, Colonel Javier Corbacho Margallo, the course brought together 12 students of 7 nationalities from the different armies and Security Forces and Corps.
This course aims at enhancing technical exploitation capabilities at level 1 (Tactical level), mainly in the disciplines of document exploitation (DOCEX), exploitation of electronic media (MEDEX), exploitation of mobile phones (CELLEX) and exploitation of drones and related control systems (UAS) when used as improvised explosive devices (IED) delivery vehicles. Upon completion of the course, trainees are able to collect, preserve, extract and analyse data and information from exploitable material captured from enemy, in IED-related incidents for subsequent integration into level 2 technical exploitation.
The course was developed through practical-theoretical sessions in each of the areas, using advanced tools and software, with the support of an interdisciplinary team made up of both military and civilian experts at international level.
