Representatives of the UVE participate in the Vienna Document event organised by France

•  The 4th Fighter Squadron at the 113th Air Base in Saint Dizier and the 5th Dragoon Regiment at Mailly-Le-Camp were visited. In addition, three military teams that have recently joined the French Armed Forces were presented

Two representatives of the Spanish Verification Unit (SVU) attended the event organised by France, in the framework of the Vienna Document 2011 (VD11), which establishes that participating States must carry out, at least once every five years, a visit to an air base and a military installation to ensure compliance with conventional arms control treaties and agreements.

Specifically, a visit was made to the 4th Fighter Squadron at the 113th Air Base in Saint Dizier and the 5th Dragoon Regiment in Mailly-Le-Camp. In addition, three military equipment recently incorporated into the French Armed Forces were presented: the VBMR-L Serval (Light Armoured Multirole Armoured Vehicle), the EBRC Jaguar (Armoured Reconnaissance and Combat Team) and the Griffon MEPAC (Close Support Embarked Mortar).

The event was attended by 44 delegates from 25 countries of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), including a representative of the OSCE's own Conflict Prevention Centre (CPC).

The delegates received lectures from each of the units. They had the opportunity to see the facilities, the instruction and training of the personnel, the different material used and the daily activities of the units visited.

There was also an opportunity to talk to personnel from the different units, to see static and dynamic exhibitions and to learn first-hand about the new weapons system entering service with the French Armed Forces.

The Spanish Verification Unit is responsible for ensuring compliance with conventional arms control treaties and agreements signed by Spain within the framework of the OSCE, in order to contribute to the development and strengthening of international peace, stability and security.
