Today, the four Eurofighters of the 14th Wing and one A400M, all of them from the Spanish Air and Space Force, are leaving Los Llanos Air Base in Albacete to Germany for the initial flight of the 'Pacific Skies 24'. They are part of this deployment of almost two months around the world, together with Germany and France.
'Pacific Skies 24" includes combined operational exercises in Alaska (USA), Australia and India, which intend to enhance cooperation between allies, promote security and stability by contributing to deterrence, as well as strengthen military cooperation with countries in the Indo-Pacific area.
The deployment provides the Air and Space Force an opportunity for combined training in non-NATO environments and a demonstration of the global projection capability of air power, with a focus on maximizing interoperability.
During the whole development of the 'Pacific Skies 24' it is foreseen that Spain will provide 240 total participants in two groups of 120 people, with relief in Australia and four Eurofighters, two A400M and one A330 will be used.
Pacific Skies 24' is composed by three exercises:
· ARCTIC DEFENDER 24, from July 8 to 17 in Alaska.
· PITCH BLACK 24, from July 22 to August 4 in Australia.
· TARANG SHAKTI, from 7 to 13 August in India.
The deployment will conclude at the end of August at the Morón Air Base in Seville, after flying over the Middle East and the Mediterranean Sea, thus fulfilling a round-the-world tour.
Pacific Skies 24', in addition to representing a demonstration of force projection to any place where it is needed, shows Spain's commitment to stability and international security, through the exercise of deterrence against possible threats.
