The Spanish Verification Unit (SVU) has attended, together with representatives from other countries, the observation of the ‘Spring Storm 24’ drill in Estonia, in which some 14,000 military personnel and around 350 ground assets from Germany, Denmark, Spain, Finland, the United States, France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Czech Republic have participated.
This was the largest annual drill of the Estonian Defence forces, the aim of which was to train various units of the Estonian army and interact with other NATO allies.
According to the ‘Vienna Document’, signatory countries of this arms control agreement must notify and allow the observation of military drills or manoeuvres when they exceed established thresholds of personnel and/or assets involved.
