Spanish Special Operations Units take part in the FLINTLOCK 24 drill

  • FLINTLOCK is a Military Assistance drill whose main objectives are to train and enhance the capabilities of African Nations Special Operations Forces

FLINTLOCK is an annual Military Assistance drill organised and led by US Special Operations Command Africa, in which special operations units from  Western countries collaborate with their African counterparts to exchange special operations techniques, tactics and procedures.

This event takes place from 10 to 25 May in three locations: the Joint Special Operations Command in Accra, the Special Operations Land TASK GROUP in Tamale and the Special Operations Maritime TASK GROUP in Daboya.

Spain took part in this event with the participation of a total of 37 military and civil guardsmen from the Joint Special Operations Command, the Army Special Operations Command, the Navy's Special Naval Warfare Force and Civil Guard personnel. In addition, the Joint Special Operations Command has planned and coordinated the participation of the UOE of the Army and Navy, as well as the Guardia Civil in this drill.

The activities of the Special Operations teams will focus on urban area combat, target practice, tactical combat wounded care, special reconnaissance, hostage recovery and ship boarding and search, as well as a final tactical theme.
