In Retamares, Madrid
February 13, 2024
  • The Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command attended the closing ceremony of the 1st Basic Course of Specialisation in Cyber Operations for Troops and Marines.

The 1st edition of the Basic Specialization Course of the Military School of Cyberspace Operations has now closed. During the closing ceremony, presided over by the Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command, diplomas certifying the successful completion of the course were awarded to the first fifteen students who have successfully completed the course. This training programme is aimed at providing them with the basic knowledge to be able to operate in the cyberspace.

The Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command thanked the trainees for their efforts during the ten weeks of training, during which they had to complete a demanding programme developed with the support of both civilian and military instructors.

This course is part of an ambitious plan to provide the Armed Forces with trained personnel, at all levels, to carry out a full range of missions in cyberspace.

Upon completion of this course, the trainees will join their home units, mostly the Joint Cyberspace Command Task Force. They will start to perform cyber defence-related tasks. It is expected that in a few weeks these personnel will take the next step in their specific training, which will enable them to perform more specialised tasks related to military operations.

The importance of such courses lies in the fact that they are the cornerstone on which to build military capabilities to operate in cyberspace. These capabilities are a fundamental element for the armed forces to be able to fulfil their mission in this area.

The second edition of this Basic Specialisation Course in Cyber Operations is scheduled for completion in March.
