The Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) has received a visit from the students of the XLIX National Defence Course.
On their arrival at the MCCE Command building, they were received by the Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command, Major General of the Air Force, Rafael García Hernández, the Second Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command, Rear Admiral Javier Roca Rivero, the Chief of Staff of the MCCE, Captain Jose Ángel Hernández Rodríguez and the Commander of the Cyberspace Operations Force, Colonel Ignacio Javier Pérez Jiménez.
General García Hernández addressed the audience in the General Gómez López de Medina Room, where he explained the origin and creation of the current Cyberspace Command following the integration of the former Joint Cyber Defence Command and the Armed Forces CIS HQ. He also outlined the functions, tasks and missions assigned to the Command, placing special attention on the fact that the type of attacks received is diverse and requires continuous adaptation of procedures and protocols, and concluded with future forecasts.
This was followed by a tour of the Command's facilities, where the attendees had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the functions and missions assigned to the different Headquarters of the Joint Cyberspace Command, as well as to understand what their day-to-day work consists of.
The purpose of the National Defence Course is to offer civilian leaders of our society a general outlook on national defence, providing, in addition to the most significant national and international factors that affect the Spanish geostrategic context, the basics of national security and defence policy. Also, the general features of our organisation, defence planning and the most important missions of the Armed Forces, in which the new domain of Cyberspace plays a fundamental role. This type of visit helps students gain real situational awareness.
