The Commander of the NATO Combined Air Operations Centre in Torrejón visits the TIGRU Detachment.

Lieutenant General Juan Pablo Sánchez de Lara, Head of the NATO Combined Air Operations Centre in Torrejón (CAOC-TJ), visited the Tigru Air Tactical Detachment in Schitu (Romania). This visit was accompanied by a delegation from the Romanian Air Force led by General Maxim Gheorghe, Commander of the 76th Brigade.

The commander of the CAOC-TJ was received by the head of the Detachment, after which he was given a general presentation on the NATO mission 'enhanced Air Policing - RDR'. Then,  visited the facilities where he was shown the equipment and systems used in this operation. Finally, he signed the Tigru Detachment's Book of Honour.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Sánchez de Lara stressed the importance of this mission for Spain, Romania and NATO. He also praised the work done so far and encouraged the Tigru detachment's personnel to continue to monitor the airspace in this region in order to contribute to the Alliance's defence.

The Tigru Detachment, which employs personnel from different Air and Space Army units, has recently completed one year since the start of this mission and in this time has accumulated more than 7,000 hours of aerial surveillance through the deployment, operation and maintenance of the AN/TPS-43M long-range tactical radar of the Mobile Air Control Group.
