  • The workshop was attended by representatives from 31 countries of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and a representative of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

A delegation from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has participated in Romania in a 'Vienna Document 2011' event consisting of visits to the 86th Air Base in Fetesti and the 9th Mechanised Brigade in Constanta. Both are leading units of the Romanian Armed Forces.

In addition, Romania presented the 'PIRANHA III C120 mm' vehicle, which has recently entered service with its Armed Forces. During the presentation, a demonstration of the vehicle's capabilities was given.

The 58 delegates, who did not include members of the Russian Federation or Belarus, had the opportunity to see the facilities and operational organisation of the units visited as well as the new weapon system presented.

At the end of the official proceedings of the event, the attending delegates carried out an evaluation, determining that compliance with the Vienna Document 2011 stipulations for contributing to confidence- and security-building in Europe had been more than satisfactorily achieved.

The Romanian Verification Unit was responsible for organising the event together with the Units involved, giving an excellent image of its Armed Forces.

The Spanish Verification Unit is the unit in charge of ensuring compliance with the Arms Control Treaties signed by most European countries within the framework of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). These treaties aim to promote greater openness and transparency in their military activities, and to contribute to the development and strengthening of peace, stability and international security. The Vienna Document (VD 2011), the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), and the Treaty on Open Skies form the fundamental basis of the SVU's activities.
