Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) is conducting a Mobile Training Team (MTT) on improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for the Colombian Army from 4 to 8 September in Bogota, Colombia, as part of NATO's collaborative activities for partner countries.
The training, with an operational and tactical focus, is organised into theoretical classes and two practical exercises focusing on Attack the Network, the main pillar of the fight against the IED system.
This MTT is composed of four instructors assigned to LANDCOM: a German officer, two Canadian officers and a Spanish officer. All of them have experience in areas of operations where the IED threat has been very present. On the Colombian Army side, 35 military students are attending, with a professional profile mainly focused on Operations, Intelligence and Engineers. Also, the presence of two FBI agents from the United States is significant.
The MTT is a good opportunity to exchange knowledge and share experiences, which can be of great value both for Colombia, given the threat it faces from the FDI system, and for NATO as a whole and in possible future scenarios.
