Upon her arrival, the French diplomat was received by the CAOCT Commander, Lieutenant General Juan Pablo Sánchez de Lara, and later they hold a working meeting prior to the military ceremony.
In the commemoration of the French National Day, the traditional hoisting of the flag took place. Afterwards, the authorities present addressed some words to the personnel taking part in the military ceremony.
In his speech, Lieutenant General Sánchez has expressed his recognition of the work and contribution of France to the airspace defence in Europe. In particular, he emphasised the solidarity of the neighbouring country in the NATO missions, and more concretely, with the Ukrainian people in the fight for their sovereignty. Moreover, he highlighted the French contribution to availability, responsiveness, effectiveness and interoperability of the Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD), such as the deployment of the MAMBA system in Romania.
Lieutenant General Sánchez de Lara has pointed out the agreements reached in the NATO Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, and expressed his wishes for an early incorporation of Sweden to the Alliance, which ‘makes the NATO stronger in its common endeavour of collective defence.’
The French Consul General has expressed her gratitude for the celebration of the French National Day and the personal effort of all the NATO member countries present in the CAOC in the maintenance of airspace defence in the south of Europe. In a constantly changing world, the French diplomat has stressed the importance of unity, of which the NATO is one of the most representative examples in the defence of freedom, security and democracy.
