The Centre of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED CoE) delivered the second annual iteration of the Document Media Exploitation Course (DOMEX) from 22 May to 2 June at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid, and at the headquarters of the San Marcial Division of the Spanish Army in Burgos.
Inaugurated by the Colonel Director of the C-IED CoE, Javier Corbacho Margallo, the course has brought together 12 students of 6 nationalities from different armies, including one from the Guardia Civil.
The aim of this course is to enhance technical exploitation capabilities at level 1 (Tactical level), mainly in the disciplines of document exploitation (DOCEX), electronic media exploitation (MEDEX), mobile phone exploitation (CELLEX) and exploitation of drones and related control systems (UAS) when used as improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Upon completion of the course, students are able to analyse and extract information from IED-related events through the collection of evidence and the use of software, for subsequent integration into Level 2 technical exploitation.
The course has been developed through practical-theoretical sessions in each of the areas, using advanced tools and software, with the support of an interdisciplinary team made up of both military and civilian experts at international level.
