The relief of JFC Naples Deputy Air Commander between NATO's deployable air command and control post at Poggio Renatico and CAOC Torrejon has taken place in Naples. The Deputy Air Commander serves as advisor and liaison between COM JFC Naples and AIRCOM Command, assisting in the conduction and synchronisation of the air campaign in the event of a crisis or conflict in NATO's Joint Operations Area South and East (JOA S&E).
The Commander of the Torrejón Air Operations Centre, Lieutenant General Juan Pablo Sánchez de Lara, attended the ceremony, subsequently he held a meeting with the Spanish personnel stationed in the Naples area. In this meeting, the main activities carried out by the contingent and the relevance of the JOA S&E for deterrence and national defence were presented.
SPANISH CONTINGENT IN NAPLES
The Spanish contingent in Naples consists of personnel stationed at the Combined Joint Headquarters, the Joint Logistics Support Group and NATO's Second Signal Battalion, located in the towns of Lago Patria and Grazzanise respectively.
It is currently made up of 73 men and women belonging to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Legal Corps and Civil Guard.
