Accident involving a BMR during one of the activities of the 'COPEX 23' exercise

• Seven soldiers have been injured to different degrees

During one of the activities planned for the 'COPEX 23' exercise, a BMR crashed in the early afternoon on the manoeuvres field of the Álvarez de Sotomayor Base, Viator (Almería). Eleven people were travelling in the wrecked vehicle, seven of whom were injured. The injured were taken to the Torrecárdenas Hospital in Almería. At the moment, one has been discharged and six are under observation in the emergency department of the aforementioned hospital with a favourable evolution, pending further tests.

The activity in which the injured soldiers were taking part is part of the COPEX 23 joint exercise in which around 4,000 soldiers from the Army, Navy and Air and Space Forces are deployed in different parts of Spain.
