NATO Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence Holds 10th Annual Conference on C-IED Discipline

The NATO Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence (C-IED CoE,) has organized, on March 7 and 8, the tenth Annual Discipline Conference (ADC-23) at its facilities in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.

The organization of this Conference is one of the responsibilities of the C-IED COE as Head of Department in the C-IED discipline designated by NATO. This assignment means that the Center is responsible to NATO for developing and supervising the training programs of the different courses in C-IED and for identifying possible training gaps in them. With this work, the COE supports the NATO Global Training Program in close collaboration with the Requirements Authority (SHAPE) and the Allied Transformation Command (ACT JFD).

During the two days of the conference l, 20 experts from 11 nationalities belonging to different organizations specialized in the field, have studied the operational novelties of NATO training, have updated their operational requirements and have proposed possible solutions to the training at both individual and collective level. All this with the aim of ensuring that training programs in C-IED are aligned with the evolution of needs, technology and available means. Attendees included representatives from NATO Supreme Headquarters Europe (SHAPE), Allied Transformation Command (SACT HQ), NATO Land Command (LAN DCOM), Joint Chiefs of Staff, other Centers of Excellence and members of the Community of Interest C-IED.

COUNTER-IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES CENTRE

The NATO Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence (C-IED CoE), is one of the 28 NATO Accredited Centres of Excellence, and is located in the Madrid town of Hoyo de Manzanares. In addition to its accreditation as a CoE, it complies with the quality standards (QA- Quality Assurance) required and certified by the NATO Transformation Allied Command (ACT) necessary to be considered a NATO Education and Training Facility.

Among its functions is to provide support to NATO, NATO partners and the International Community by developing and carrying out different training and specialization courses in the fight against IED Systems, thus contributing to increasing the security of troops. deployed, reducing or eliminating the IED threat, especially from terrorist and insurgent networks.

The C-IED CoE was offered by Spain to NATO as part of its network of Centres of Excellence and accredited by the Alliance in November 2010.
