The Spanish Ambassador to Italy, Miguel Fernández-Palacios Martínez, has visited NATO's Joint Force Command Headquarters Naples (JFCNP) and the national contingent.
After receiving the honours of ordinance, he held a meeting with the Commander of JFC Naples, Admiral Stuart B. Munsch (USN), followed by a working meeting and the traditional group photograph with the national contingent led by Rear Admiral Francisco J. Asensi Pérez, Spanish Chief of Plans and Senior Spanish Military Officer in Italy.
During the meeting, the ambassador received an update on the organisation and tasks of the JFCNP, the development of plans and ongoing operations, the distribution and tasks of contingent personnel and the social, cultural and cohesion activities being carried out, ending the meeting with a brief discussion.
During the visit, he was accompanied by Carlos Maldonado Valcárcel, Consul General of Spain in Naples, and Colonel Juan N. Núñez Vázquez, Defence Attaché in Italy.
SPANISH CONTINGENT IN NAPLES
The Spanish contingent in Naples includes personnel based at Combined Joint Headquarters, the Joint Logistics Support Group (JLSG), the NSD-Hub and NATO's Second Signal Battalion, located in the towns of Lago Patria and Grazzanise.
It is currently made up of 66 appointed personnel and 3 commissioners belonging to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Legal Corps and Civil Guard.
