The Centre of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED CoE) has organised the fifth edition of the Technology Workshop 22 in Segovia from 25 to 27 October.

Officially opened by the Mayoress of the city, Clara Martín García and the Colonel Director of the C-IED CoE, Javier Corbacho Margallo, the event aimed to provide the C-IED community of interest with an overview and update on the latest technologies that support their work.

In this fifth edition, the seminar featured a number of current C-IED conferences, with twenty-six speakers from NATO and Allied countries. It was also possible to visit the exhibitions and displays of the different systems by each of the twenty-two companies from the Security and Defence sector authorised for the event.

The Technology Workshop provided a good environment for both the exchange of information and the acquisition of knowledge on the tools under development to help address the evolving threat of IEDs.

The Centre of Excellence against Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED CoE), one of the 28 NATO Accredited Centres of Excellence, is located in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.

Its mission is to provide expert support to NATO, NATO partners and the International Community in countering the IED System to increase the security of deployed troops by reducing or eliminating the IED threat, especially from terrorist and insurgent networks.

The C-IED CoE was offered by Spain to NATO as part of its network of Centres of Excellence and accredited by the Alliance in November 2010.
