Spanish Lieutenant General Luis Lanchares Dávila, New HQ JFC Brunssum Deputy Commander

• HQ JFC Brunssum is one of three headquarters at the operational level of the NATO Command Structure

Lieutenant General Luis Lanchares Dávila has been appointed as Deputy Commander (DCOM) of the Headquarters Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (HQ JFC Brunssum), in a ceremony presided over by General Jörg Vollmer, HQ Commander.

The event was attended by the Spanish Ambassador to NATO, Miguel Ángel Fernández-Palacios Martínez, as well as the Chief of the Spanish Joint Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Fernando García González-Valerio.

The DCOM at HQ JFC Brunssum rotates between Spain and the United Kingdom.  Lieutenant General Lanchares takes over as DCOM from Lieutenant General Stuart R. Skeates, who has held the post for the past three years.

HQ JFC Brunssum is one of three headquarters at the operational level of the NATO Command Structure and is responsible for alliance security in Northern Europe.   It reports directly to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) based in Mons.
