Chief of Defence Staff (JEMAD in Spanish), Admiral general Teodoro López Calderón, has held his first coordination meeting with commanders of subordinated units.
The meeting was held at Retamares Base and it was atended by Centre for National Defence Studies Director (CESEDEN in Spanish), Commander of Combined Air Operations Centre Torrejón, Chief of Joint Staff, Commander of Operations Command (MOPS in Spanish), Commander of Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE in Spanish), Armed Forces Intelligence Centre Director (CIFAS in Spanish), Commander of Joint Special Operations Command (MCOE in Spanish) and CHOD’s Head of Staff.
Afterwards, CHOD met with a representation of personnel stationed at the Retamares base, to whom he pointed out that they are all part of a team: "MOPS plans, conducts and monitors military operations, CIFAS provides the military intelligence necessary to warn of international situations that could affect National Defence, the MCCE directs, coordinates, controls and executes actions to ensure Armed Forces' freedom of maneuver within the cyberspace and, last but not least, Retamares Base staff provides support to enable the rest of military units to do their job".
Admiral general López Calderón has remarked that, with everyone's help, he will devote all his efforts to following the path of his predecessors, "trying to improve the capabilities of the operational structure of the Armed Forces so that they can fulfil the objective of preserving the security and freedom of the Spanish people and, together with our allies, international stability and security".
