· The purpose of the visit was to get to know first-hand the structure and tasks of the CAOC
The Defence attachés of NATO member countries accredited in Spain make a monthly visit to units and bodies in and around Madrid in order to improve their knowledge of our Armed Forces. Within this framework, 11 Defence attachés visited the Combined Air Operations Centre in Torrejón (CAOC TJ) on Tuesday 21 January.
During the visit, the Defence attachés, accompanied by the Captain Head of the Defence Attachés Department of the General Directorate of Defence Policy (DIGENPOL), have been informed by the CAOC TJ Commander, Lieutenant General Garcia Servert, on the operational situation in the area of responsibility of the Unit. Some operative examples were presented in the Operations Room.
Given the multinational nature and the high professional qualification of the participants visiting the unit, the briefing became a dynamic forum for analysis on issues regarding the new NATO command structure and the current challenges in international security.
