The Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command, Vice Admiral Francisco Javier Roca Rivero gives a lecture in Cartagena on cyber defence

Vice Admiral Francisco Javier Roca Rivero, Commander of the Joint Cyberspace Command (JCCC), has given a keynote lecture entitled ‘What they never told you about cyberspace and how it affects your security’. This conference was held at the Centro Cultural Fundación Cajamurcia, in Cartagena, and its main objective was to highlight the great importance of cyberspace as an operational domain, as well as the vulnerabilities, threats and dangers that any user may find or suffer.

Without discriminating between public and private users, professional and non-professional, cyberspace is an intangible extension of our real life whose impact on our real life is not only unavoidable but impossible to encompass. In this regard, it is very important to bear in mind the large number of threats against which we will find ourselves unprotected if we are not aware of maintaining minimum security standards.

With the help of the JCCCCC, those attending this lecture were able to unravel some of these risks and understand a little more about the enormous extent of the reach of cyberspace in our day-to-day lives. These types of presentations contribute to increasing awareness, defence culture and the reach of the Joint Cyberspace Command.
