The Chief of Defence Staff pays his first official visit to the Army Land Force Headquarters in Seville

The Chief of Defence Staff (JEMAD in Spanish), admiral general Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, has paid his first official visit to the Army Land Force Headquarters today. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Lieutenant General, José Rodríguez García.

This visit comes in response to CHOD's personal interest in learning first-hand about the organisation, operation and facilities of first level headquarters within the new structure of the Spanish Army.

During the visit, the CHOD, who was accompanied by the Chief of the Army Staff army general Francisco Javier Varela, was briefed on this HQ's specific features, functioning and another specific background details.

Afterwards, the admiral visited the Generation Coordination Centre, the unit in charge of manage everything regarding the generation of the differentt Army contingents deployed overseas, as well as the control of operation ‘Misión Baluarte’, which this week surpassed 4,200,000 calls from military COVID-19 trackers.

The visit ended with CHOD signing the unit's Book of Honour.

Visit to REW 32

Later on, the CHOD and the Chief of the Army Staff  went to the 32nd Electronic Warfare Regiment (REW), also located in Seville.

After honouring the CHOD, the head of the Regiment, Colonel Francisco José Oliva Bermejo, made a presentation on the tasks, capabilities and challenges of the unit, as well as about the personnel and the working order of the complex material they uses.

Then the CHOD toured the different units and facilities that make up the Regiment, when the visit came to an end, he signed on REW-32 Book of Honour.
