ESP CHOD pays a visit to the Spanish Verification Unit

• This is the first visit to the Spanish Verification Unit since his appointment as CHOD
  

After taking office last January, the Chief of the Defence Staff (JEMAD in Spanish), admiral general Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, paid his first offcial visit to the Spanish Verification Unit (UVE in Spanish).

The UVE is responsible for the activities that belong to the Armed Forces arising from Spain's assumption of different international commitments related to disarmament and arms control, as well as for verifying compliance by other countries.

CHOD was welcomed by the Director of the Central Defence Academy, Brigadier General Fernando García-Mercadal García-Loygorri and by the Head of the UVE, Colonel Francisco Lanza Mollá. After the welcoming ceremony, The Chief of Defence greeted all the components of the Unit. Afterwards, there was a presentation on the Spanish Verification Unit and a tour of its facilities.

While the CHOD was attending the presentation, the EMAD Senior NCO held a meeting with the UVE´s senior NCO.

Although this unit reports to the Chief of Joint Staff, UVE's facilities are located in ACD HQ.

The visit ended when the Chief of Defence signed the unit's Book of Honour.
