The Network Management Group of the Consultation, Command and Control Allied Panel holds its 16th meeting

In Madrid
November 21, 2019

·       The Group is in charge of improving the design of tactical data networks (TDL) for Link-16, as well as its procedures for management and exchange of tactical data in NATO.

The Tactical Data Network Management Group held its 16th meeting this week at Isdefe's facilities in Madrid.  The Chief of the Armed Forces Information Systems and Telecommunications of the Defence Staff, as responsible for planning and design of an appropriate multi-TDL architecture at a strategic military level, has supported, through its Datalink Management Centre (DLMC-ESP) the celebration of this event in Spain as a sign of Spain's commitment to this initiative.

Tactical data networks or TDL are essential for the exchange of operational information between units, such as our fighter planes, which carry out Air Police missions in the Baltic, the frigates which, integrated into NATO groupings, provide security for our seas and oceans, or the Patriot batteries deployed in Turkey to protect the allied sky.

In this call, which was held for the first time in Spain, 37 participants from 15 countries and NATO bodies discussed both the design and updating of operational and training networks and the tools used for their design, control and monitoring.
