  • The training, delivered by personnel from the Military Police Battalion of RAPOCGTAD No. 1, has helped to strengthen joint operational readiness between the armed forces of both countries

A team of Spanish military personnel from the Military Police Battalion of the 1st High Readiness Headquarters Support Regiment (RAPOCGTAD No. 1) has delivered training in Close Quarters Combat (CQC) and non-lethal intervention at the facilities of the Senegalese Army’s Bataillon des Sports to members of the African country’s Armed Forces.

This is the second Cooperative Security Activity (ASC) to be carried out this year in Senegal in this field of training. The training focused on strengthening capabilities related to close combat and non-lethal intervention techniques, reflecting the shared interest of both countries.

Throughout the two-week training period, the Spanish military personnel carried out a continuous programme of theoretical and practical training aimed at exchanging tactics, techniques and procedures related to self-defence, responding to threats and the use of non-lethal capabilities in military and security environments.

The day concluded with a demonstration of capabilities in which the Senegalese personnel put the techniques learnt during the activity into practice. Following the demonstration, the closing ceremony and presentation of certificates to the participating personnel took place, bringing to a close a training programme marked by a high level of engagement, the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of professional ties between the two armies.

The close collaboration between Spanish instructors and Senegalese military personnel reflects the value of this type of activity as a tool for sharing knowledge and consolidating relationships of trust between units facing similar operational challenges.

Through these activities, Spain and Senegal continue to strengthen practical and sustained cooperation over time, based on the exchange of experiences, joint training and a shared commitment to regional security and stability.
